Abdulqadir Oralu Oglu, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure in Turkey,
affirmed in an interview with Anadolu Agency that the current year “2024”
will witness a significant focus on completing the Zangezur corridor and developing the infrastructure.
The Zangezur corridor serves as a vital link between Turkey and Azerbaijan,
passing through the Armenian province of Zangezur, situated between the mainland of Azerbaijan and the autonomous Nakhchivan region,
which is adjacent to Turkey. Due to its strategic location, Turkey aims to enhance trade links between the East and the West,
leveraging its geographical position and advanced infrastructure in the transport and logistics sectors.
This extensive project, encompassing roads, railways, ports, and new cities,
aims to reduce travel time between Asia and Europe through Turkey and strengthen its role as a transit hub.
Oralu Oglu explained that Turkey is experiencing intensive commercial activity in its eastern and western regions,
indicating that the development path will provide strong support for eastern and western corridors.
This is part of the ongoing efforts to implement the North-South corridor passing through Russia and Iran.
The Turkish Minister Oralu Oglu highlighted the ministry’s efforts to attract investments in various regions of Turkey,
including local and automated subway projects.
